KAZOK LOOMS, earlier known as CEE PEE HANDLOOMS is founded by Achui K. Shimray. It has its registered office in Ukhrul, Manipur.
Basically, it is a culmination of my innate love for tribal textiles since childhood. As a young student, studying outside,basically in Shillong and Delhi, I'd always ask my mom to weave mekhalas (wraparound) and stoles with motifs and patterns placed a little differently from the usual. I amnot a trained textile or fashion designer. I just follow my heart. And I'd say, I have keen eyes that can notice anything good.
We have some weavers working on the two -shaft looms as well as the traditional backstraploom. Over time, I have come to learn and realise that in order to survive and find a wider market, certain basic changes have to be made. Like product diversification and use of raw materials. As such, we have been using cotton for our bedsheet and garments, stoles, cushion covers etc.
Our weavers are all women. We encourage them to work from the convenience of their homes as they have to take care of domestic needs and pressures . We believe in fair wage, fair trade.
