The title of the book “Akupu” is taken from a Sumi dialect which is used to mean both a bridge and a flower. The title hints that words bridge the void- create impressions, provide meaning and give sense of the world we live in and the experiences lived.
Further, the title implies to its second meaning, a flower. A flower is used as a metaphor of a person blossoming into a person they are meant to be as a result and through the uncanny situations and encounters one has in their life.
